this accually happened from a year ago, but i just hear why it happened...
a friend with a silverstone s2k (MY 00) was going fast in a high speed curve
he said his foot was fully on the throttle during the whole curve , he was in 4th, but he ran out of revs and he needed to accelerate more
so, what did he do?
he shifted to 5th in half way though the curve,thats about 112 ish (180kph)
he said as soon as i shifted he began to see the street lights swirl, the cars behind him facing him , and he felt like he was in a ride at the local entertainment park , in other words , he spun like 5 or so times
he hit the curb and that sent him flying about 7 feet above the ground
he had his top down , but luckly wearing his seat belt, and got out of the accident without a scratch
in fact he got out laughing at what happened to him.
cost him about 15,000 $ with the installation of a rear and front spoiler
i was surprized that he didnt sell it .
lesson learned never shift or take your foot of the throttle when cornering!

I think you meant "curve" wherever you typed "corner"

I'll remember your advice the next time I'm in a 130MPH curve and run outta revs in 5th. (I've done 130MPH in 6th and it is plenty thrilling enough in a straight line, thank you.)

180kph = 112mph NOT 130.

yeah. 4th gear in the s2k tops out at around 117-118mph--not 130mph!!! anyway, your friend is an idiot. it's unfortunate he wasn't seriously hurt so that he can actually learn a lesson instead of laughing about it... bottom line: never push a car to its limit unless you know exactly what you are doing...
