Default front license plate

I'm sorry if this has been talked about already. I did a search and didn't find much. I was wondering how many of you (if any at all) kept their front plates on for protection purposes. I mean, if someone were to accidently back into our s2k's (god forbid if this happens often) I would WANT my front plate on. Trade off looks for functionality/protection?

Just curious.

No way. I never even thought of how it may protect the bumper. I just wanted it off for better air flow and it enhances the look. BTW it's illegal in my state to go without a front plate.

With all the posts about being backed into, I was just thinking before I read your post that the front plate bracket might help.

MN requires a front plate but I never had one on my CRX and I got 2 tickets in 14 years. Since my wife also will drive the S2000, she doesn't want to be hassled so I am leaving it on even though there is no question it looks much better with the bracket off. I saved my little caps just in case...

Don't do it. The possible protection is soooooooooo negligible, it's not worth the huge ding you will have in appearance.

Unless....... You have a really cool imported plate, like a Japanase front plate. That would be really cool. I am trying to find an EU license plate for my 996 right now. I think that's a really cool look.

I can't see what protection a license plate would provide...

I think that it's legal to simply display your front plate inside your front windshield, i.e. on the dash.

Does anybody know for sure?

the protection would be this. Instead of contact being your front bumber, the other car would make contact with your license plate frame instead...a minimal thing...but still.....at least SOME protection

Can someone please explain to me why you guys don't want the plate drilled in ?

What are you supposed to do if you live in a state that requires 2 license plates ?
I'm not knocking it, I just don't understand what the problem is . . .
Is it because they might not drill the holes in straight and your car will have a plate that's mounted crooked ?
