If you want socal specific info, post this in the socal forum...

In WA, I've never been cited for not having a front plate. However, it has been mentioned when I've been stopped for other offenses.

I keep my front plate under the passenger seat strapped to a visor CD carrier. If I'm top up and I'm pulled over, I toss it up on the dash.

If I'm top down and they mention not having the plate, I pull it out (with some borken bracket bits in the console) and inform them that my mounting bracket was broken by my wife and the grocery store and I have a new one on order from the dealer but I did not want to put the plate on the dash with the top down as it could fly out of my vehicle and cause a road hazard and instead of citing me for no front plate, he'd have to cite me for having unsecured cargo and littering so I stashed it under the seat.

It's worked every time because they either believe me or they know full well that I'm full of sh!t but it's an almost believable story and they let me off, citing me for excessive speed instead or something like that.

If I'm parked, I'll toss it up on the dash so I don't get a fix it when I can't explain my story face-to-face.

I've had mine off in VA for months now, and (KNOCK KNOCK) I haven't been pulled over, but my friend with an integra got pulled over twice and has since put his back on.

I didn't run one until I got pulled over for it and now with mods on the car that could get me sent to the refferee I decided to leave it on in hopes of not getting pulled over

Thanks for sharing your experiences with me guys.

I can see how you could get a ticket when the car is parked.

What do you guys think of simply putting the plates on the dash when you park?

Do cops really pull you over ONLY for not having front plates?

I'm in the San Fernando Valley and San luis Obispo (home and school) and never run a front plate.

The fix it is 10 bucks at the police station check off, and I've only had to do it once in years, and that was with my modded civic when I was pulled over just for fix it items.

Don't drive like a douschbag and you shouldn't attract much police attention.

To me its worth leaving it off even if i have to deal with a couple fines, especially on the S. I have it off on both the S and the civic, both with Honda bumper plugs.

Not in the S2k but in my MR2 when I lived in LA a few years ago I got a ticket from a motorcycle cop near LAX for no front plate. And I got one parked in Santa Monica for no front plate on my RX-7.

Here in Portland the cops have pretty much left me alone with no front plate on my S2k.

Got pulled over for no front plate in my RX-7 almost 2 years ago. Ticket was $100-120 or something like that or $10 signed off by a cop. The cop didn't even look at my car and signed it off. But I left it mounted...

Haven't been pulled over yet in the S yet after driving around for over a year.

I'm not trying to scratch my dash, and I was told by a friend who's a cop that the plate in the dash has taken peoples' heads off before. . . he couldn't cite me for no plate and had no reason to give me shit so I listen to him.
