I have an '05 and just noticed after looking at an '06 at a dealer the other day, that the front and rear wheel strakes were never installed on my car. I bought the car a year ago at a dealer 3 hours away so it doesn't make sense to go back there to hear I'm SOL. I ordered them the other day, has anyone else experienced this?

 

It doesnt come with it that why.

Also wtf are you talking about front and rear strakes? AFAIK the S2000 only had the option of rear strakes.

 

They are in front of the front and rear wheels, the are not the optional rear body colored ones you are thinking of. It's part of the dealer in-service, I looked at the service manual that came with the car, the dealer in-service is in the beginning of the book. The box is checked next to "install front and rear wheel strakes".

 

I think he means "mud guard" ?

JPCork40 is correct. They are the rubber pieces that extend down about 2 inches at the leading edge of all the tires.

 

i've always wondered what these were for(protecting the tires?), not sure.

 

Aerodiymamic aids,to divert air flow,from the tires.
And they're caalled "understrakes".

 

They should have been installed at PDI. My understanding is that they improve directional stability at very high speeds. Is this correct?

 

Yes, you will need these at speed. If you have ever noticed that your car waivers from side to side at highway speeds, that is why.
