Hello! I just received my S2000 two weeks ago and have 700 miles on it. I filled up the tank three times and noticed that when I drive about 50 miles the digital fuel indicator starts to disappear quickly (5-6 ticks). Then the ticks start to go more slowly. I'm driving the car below 6000 rpms and I'm getting around 24mph (city and highway) so far. I was wondering if this is how the fuel indicator works? When I drive the NSX I noticed that the fuel indicator moves at a constant pace, but it has 70,000 miles on it. Does the indicator have a break in period when the ticks disappear evenly like every 15-20 mpg? Thanks for your help.

Yes. This is really normal. I drive my S2000 everyday about an hour or so to work. I usually get anywhere from 275 to 300 miles to the tank. . .depends how I drive during the time! The readout starts losing bars quick at first, but then seems to take a lifetime for the middle bars to click.

Also, get ready to see two bars left before turning your S2000 off and then see four bars when you start it again!

man- dont know how you guys do it! i am lucky to get over 200 miles on a tank... and almost always get 19 mpg (at best). you must be way too easy on your cars!! or maybe lots of highway driving?

I drove my stook down to LA (from SF) last weekend and even with the occasional short vtec bursts I still got 25.8 mpg... not too bad.. but I do also notice that the earlier fuel bars do tick away faster than the later ones. I lose one tick going from the gas station to my house. (about 5 miles)

The same thing happens to me on my Del Sol. After I fill it up, it dips about half way and get "stucked" there a while.
