Fully electric S2K!

You actually register the fuel type as electric (E). There is a special type they made for Hybrids as well with DMV (H). I think gas is G, but not sure. Diesel is (D).
You have to get inspections for safety and make sure you really did convert it to electric so you can't just get around smog
Currently if you take an electric car to get a smog test, it won't pass hehe. They have to actually be able to test it and get real numbers.

yup, some real smart MF in this country, too bad the auto industry doesn't want their imput. Kudos for trying the conversation on their own. good luck and hope u serve as an example of what american ingenuity is capable of accomplishing.
i think its cool how this guy picked the s2k's body to convert into an electric car. all the electric cars out there currently in the market are econoboxes and its interesting to see an electric sports car
I got to do my first test drive last night. It was so much fun. I still haven't gotten use to not needing the clutch when starting and stopping (only to shift). It's also hard to get use to getting more power on the low end and not to let it scream
Here is a poor video in the dark. I'll add another one that shows under the hood and such along with a drive in the car soon.
You'll also notice a humming/whining electric noise. It's not anywhere as bad in person as it seems to be on camera. The sound happens at very low throttle position and according to the controller manufacturer prevents ruining the electric motor during near stall conditions (taking off). If you just give it 10% or more throttle and don't ease into it you never hear it. I call it my warning buzzer so I don't back over some old lady in the parking lot.

Nice! I'm looking forward to your reports on establishing the performance envelope of it. (Distance, speed, acceleration, etc.)
Oh, and in a "break a leg" sort of way, umm, perhaps in the passenger seat you'd want a fire extinguishing rated for electrical fires?

cool idea, but i would never want my S to be electric. i like to take it on long trips, ie longer then 200 miles. i liken this to a v6 mustang with the pony package. looks cool, but not the same performance
