Default Fun confrontation with an eBayer

So this tool posts up an 04's s2k for sale on ebay. One of the "mods" he lists is a custom cone filter intake.

Looking at the pictures, it is very obvious that all they did was remove the top of the airbox and pull the cone filter up and out of it's cozy spot.

Since he said it was sellign it for someone else, I figured I'd be nice and let him know that doing this will just decrease performance, and it's all the stock parts in there, nothing aftermarket. I said that I'm just trying to help him out there, and if he's willingly trying to dupe people, then so be it. This is his response:

Item: Honda : S2000 (200084726599)
This message was sent while the listing was active.
desmo98 is the seller.

well Mr. Rocket Science if you new anything about performance a open air box gives you more cfm which in fact increases your hp by 7.I have the top of the box,so if that is why your not bidding ,I 'll put it back on just for you. Before you my friend go yakity yak about what you don't know, read some more gear head mags.and further more it has a after market filter.

Feel free to have fun with this guy

More CFM automatically gives you +7hp in all applications. Every gear head magazine reader knows this.

I just asked:

Are you aware that opening the airbox will actually make the car loose horsepower because of heatsoak?

yeah, I mean, I was very polite in my initial email, a response like that was totally unnecessary.

I like how he claims it's an aftermarket filter. Funny, the OEM filter I just replaced yesterday is the same color and also has that same "handle" at the tip of it. Interesting.
