Funny how little the average joe knows about the S2000
I was talking with a friend last night, and he was telling this other guy about my car. The discussion was as follows:
Him: Oh yeah the M2000 right?
Me: No, the S2000.
Him: It's got a V-6 right?
Me: No, I-4
Him: Oh, that sucks.
Me: Well it's got 240 horsepower.
Him: Oh that's pretty good.
Another friend: That's the most horsepower/liter from a naturally aspirated engine in the history of the world.
Him: Holy sh!t that's awesome!
I just found it funny how his answers changed from one to another as he heard about the stats of the car!

People who ask me questions about the S2000 always seem a little disappointed to find out it has "only" a 4 cylinder engine. I tell them that it has 240hp, and the same question always seems to follow "turbo charged?" I love the look on thier face when I break it down: 2L, 240hp, N/A
Hey Jay,
You'll run into that scenario a lot with this car. If someone thinks they know all about it, just ask them where the fuel door release is ... or the dipstick ... or the top compartment
.
BTW, the F20C engine produces the most horsepower per liter of any production normally aspirated engine in the world. There are racing engines out there with higher specific output than ours

You got that right Jay. I got my stook last October 1 and it was the first one in Delaware and I heard it all. One lady told me that she just loved my Honda Boxster, some guy thought it was a Ferrarri, unfortunately others thought it was a Z3. Lots of comments about it only being a 4 cylinder, small back seats, Honda doesnt make a convertible, Do your clubs fit, Whats that little red button for, Wheres the radio, How much do they cost, Is it fast, Can I sit in it, it's really sexy for a "Honda" Oh well, the price you have to pay for uniqueness. Not much advertisement for them especially over a year ago except for car mags which many dont read. ]Originally posted by Jay Li:

It almost makes you wish that Honda produced it under the Acura name, so we could easily associate the Stook with the NSX. It's almost like a ping pong game now, with the way interest rises and falls according to how the S2000's stats are mentioned.
For instance:
It's a 4 cylinder (down)
It has the highest output per liter..etc (up)
It has only two seats (down)
It's a convertible (up)
It has 5 feet of trunk space (down)
It easily seats people over 6 feet tall (up)
It's a Honda, not a Porche (down)
But it's the fastest Honda {I assume} (up)
It cost over $32,000 (down, expensive Honda)
But it's a performance bargain in the world of sportscars (up)

My favorite question is, "Is that the new del Sol convertible?"
This is usually posed by a young, pretty highschool girl. When talking to older neophytes about the stook, the inevitable question about cost comes up. When I finally give in and tell them the price, thay look at me like I'm insane. Then they usually get into their $30K pickup and drive away, shaking their head.

Some are even made by Honda
