I don't like the idea of having a weaker engine and but I do like the lower price. I guess it's a trade off. Then again non of this is fact. I just hope there is a 2009/10 model so I can get a 2008 at a cheap price like the 2007s did.

I've been hovering around this discussion and others trying to just find out if the 08 is the final year for the SAWKI (S as we know it). Local dealer says a handful of 09 orders are on the books here in CA, but this doesn't guarantee anything about what Honda will or won't do. U.S. sales in June was 253 units -- lowest June ever -- and that was with a very good lease offer. I missed it, and am now just trying to figure out whether there might be an 09. Was hoping that if Woodwork was still around maybe he could give us some hint from the inner sanctum at Honda in Torrance.

My infantile, motorhead hope was that Honda might re-engineer the S engine with direct injection, which about as likely as spider-pigs walking on the ceiling. But, you know, send it off with a bang not a whimper.

aw hell, just make it an 11,000 rpm 300 hp electric with the latest in battery and energy recovery technology, and give it the same range as the current model. The S2000 was a pinnacle of technology when it came out, even says so on the first page of your owners manual. They should do it again. At least with an electric motor it'll have some torque

LMAO!! Riiiiiiiiiiight...

Looks very similar to the CR-Z.
Its platform is based off of the CRZ... which probably means it is FWD

Your vision is an oxymoron, you can't have refinements and amenities in a 2250lb sports car. I'd love to see the car drop 600lbs, but you better be prepared to give up some comforts to do it. Have you been in an Elise? It's just a big gocart.
Mine has power windows, a/c, leather, stereo, HID headlights. I would be all over a lighter smaller replacement with 260 hp for mid to high 20's.

If Honda does make a new S2000, hopefully, it won't go for sale any time soon. I have a brand new '07 S2000. I was enraged when the Honda S2000CR came out a few months after I bought my current S2K, so it'd be even more disappointing if a new S2000 came out with a better engine before I even pay off my current S2000's loan.
I'm proud that I have a beautiful little performance car, so I am not too disappointed of not buying a CR.

This consumer guide has some rumors about the 2009/2010, although I assume it is just a set of speculations as the information does not seem to be reliable. I decided to throw it out there, as it may be a possibility, but seems unlikely.
Car and Driver has stated that the 2009 S2000 will be unchanged from 08. I tend to believe them more.

Temple of Vtec also says the '09 is confirmed, unchanged, and the CR will continue as well for '09.
