Default Garage door opener remote

Not sure if this subject has come up before, but I found a great place for the remote. Purchased a universal the size that would fit on a key chain. Then used velcro to place it on the inside lid (at the top) of the lower cubby. When you park with the top down, its protected from theft.

I have mine wired to my high beams. Pull up and flash my high beams and the garage goes up!

Mine is a keychain from Brookstone. Got the remote after seeing it on a thread here. It's nice, about the size of a keyfob. You can program two remotes onto it much like a Homelink system.

I like both ideas!
A picture would help on the Velcro option!
Where and how did you wire it to the lights?

I like the high beam idea better than mine..very cool. No pictures, don't know how to do it. Easy though. Pick up small universal remote at most good hardware stores and program. Buy small strip of self-stick velcro. Open the lower cubby-place there.

Basically it is a very simple mod. Once you have your opener modded you just tap it inline with the + and -.

Only problem with the standalone opener remotes is that in the weather that we get here in New England in the winter, the batteries tend to freeze and render the remote useles...
