For anyone looking at spending a lot of the time in the garage, I can recommend the Reznor heater. I have a 50,000 btu natural gas ceiling heater in a 24 x 24 heated area (a free standing garage). My garage is fully insulated and I can be working in short sleaves on the coldest winter days in 15 minutes. I love it. I keep that garage at 45 degrees throughout the winter and it has little to no impact on my gas bill. The heater wasn't cheap - $1,086, but like I said... I love it.

It's plenty rough after a night shift when it gets to -35*C.

Lots of people use electricity to generate heat. However, it is more expensive than nat. gas or propane and it's not as efficient.

Though some of us are a tad more organized.
If I organized everything (and my wife does it once in a while for me) I can't find anything for weeks. I know "almost" where everything is in that mess. (Except for those few occassions I go out and buy some new tool only to come home and find the same tool bought months before hidden under a pile of stuff and forgotten. )
Originally posted by FormerH22a4 Having a heating garage might not be good in the winter for corrosion. The warm air keeping the salt on the car nice and warm =
Granted, this is always a concern but our X-Caravan lived under those conditions for almost 12 years with not nearly as much care and attention as the S. It didn't show any signs of rust except for what big rocks whacked. Those I painted immediately.
Originally posted by FormerH22a4 I'll take a heated garage anyday though, my tranny would feel so much better. I'll just have to settle for my automatic plug in timer
You should consider an "in-car" heater. Quite an energy draw though but if your timer can handle the wattage from both, check it out. (The problem might be that one circuit from your house's breaker panel - will it handle the draw?)
Man it's a different world you live in! My garage gets the morning sun, and by 9:00 it's unbearably hot! Lucky to live in Hawaii.... but then again, when the dockworkers go on strike, our whole state starts to panic and hoard toilet paper....
