I've not read anything about the cap coming OFF. Once the vapor seal is broken,on comes the light.

Mine was replaced a year ago. It would click long before it seated fully on the neck.

Even if the cap clicks it may still come loose. Seems like this happens on the 2002 models only.

I tried everything, I oiled it, I oiled the gas tank tube, I squeezed the sides while turning it on, and I turned it slow, I did it all. Well not all, I should have just complained to the dealer last year.

We took my bad cap off and tried to screw it onto a new S sitting on the dealer's showroom floor, no luck, still got hung-up just after screwing it on. Then we took the cap that was on the unbought car and tried it on mine - yup, you got it, it screwed on just fine.

Apparently there are some bad 2002 gas caps out there and we should all stop hassling with them and get them replaced under warranty.

My '03 did it also--the first time, I thought I didn't tighten it 3 clicks. The second time, I checked this site to see if others had the same problem, and after the 3rd time, I called the dealership and sent them these threads, and they sent me a new cap. So far so good...

Easy to fix, if you don't want to make a trip to the dealer. My MY2001 HAD the same problem (it was one of the last 2001's made). The problem is in the threads where the two halves of the mold meet. There was a bit of a ridge on mine that I removed with a small file and my pocket knife. If your cap is working OK, you should be able to spin it and it will continue to spin by itself. If it isn't working it will not spin even with help.

I tried my wife's gas cap from her Odyssey on my S2000 and it worked great. I tried my cap on the Odyssey and it did the same thing as it did on my car.
