Default Gas Meter HELP!?!?

so it might just be me, but how many notches are in the gas meter? 20?

and do the notches light up all the way right next to the red 'empty' line?

i remembered it doing so but for some reason i'm missing a notch.

The gas gauge has lights all the way to empty.

Sounds like somebody took you down a notch, although the bottom one may be least important because of the idiot light for low gas.

Look again...there is an empty space between the last bar and the end of the scale.

Even worse is when you have 2 bars left, then it goes up to 3 bars after several miles, then down to 1 bar. I feel I can't trust my gauge when it gets that low.

At Fall Colors this year, I went out for a stint w/ 2 bars, after a few minutes it jumped to 4 bars, the a few minutes later it went to 3 bars. What the hell is going on w/ the gas gauge? Is it even accurate? BTW, how many bars count for 1 gallon? I don't know why they just don't have 13 bars on the damn thing, our tank is 13.2 gallons.
