Default Gas station car washes?

This may a silly question to many of you, but does anyone ever use the $6 gas station car washes on the S2000? Is this a terrible idea? Also, what do you recommend for removing the tough stains (like tree sap) from the paint?

No No No!. I won't even trust the "professional" type car wash/detail places, I'm the only one authorized to clean my baby.

As for the tree sap (or other stuff like it), I use Meguiar's 3 step paint system. The first step is a paint cleaner/Swirl Mark minimizer, the second is a polish, the third is carnuba wax. Looks great if you're willing to spend 1 1/2 hours apllying and buffing your car.

They have touchless washes here... i.e. No big spinning brushes, just lots of water.

I'll bring my car through these in the winter. Nothing ever touches the car except water, so I have no qualms about doing so. Plenty of waxing during the summer months and I'm content.
