Default Gave up on the S2000

Gave up on buying an S2000. Bought a 2002 Acura CL with Navigation this weekend. For the money they want for an S2000 I couldn't justify buying one. IMO I got much more car for less money. Great stereo, Navigation, Heated seats, Lots of HP and lots of room. I might have thought differently if it wasn't my daily driver. The S2000 still ranks high in my book, but I think it's still a little pricey. I sure enjoyed learning about the S2000 here. It was a lot of fun.

Bye all,

well if you're considering a two seat roadster the Honda s2000 is hardly expensive for it's class
unless you go with a miata or mr2 spyder. everything else is more expensive. well congrats on the new
car and good choice...stay with the honda family

You should be happy with your fiscally responsible decision. Let's see... far better stereo... the car does the shifting for you... you have a roof... you have a back seat. Bravo!

Just don't dyno the CL, it has some major losses to the wheel. A Type S dynoed recently at 180hp to the wheels. I was trying to figure out where the 80 hp went since the rated power at the flywheel is 260hp. Must be that crapomatic, but it did get decent torque of 196lb/ft..

And you can't compare the two cars, the CL will never come close to the handling of the S2k nor the output. So the CL has the extra electronic goodies... hmm, but it has no rwd, no manual until now, piggish Tbird proportions, bland bland bland.. other than that, it's a great car..

I got the Non "S" model. Finances dictated it was either the "S" or the NAVI. After playing with the NAVI and driving both cars, I had to have the NAVI. I couldn't see $2000 for 35 hp, upgraded wheels, tires and suspension. The base model is plenty quick for me.

From driving my girlfriend's new TL Type S, it drives like a completely different car vs. the regular TL (the same applies for the CL vs the Type S CL)... The improved stiffer suspension, bigger wheels, increased HP, etc. makes it actually a fun car to drive even though it's automatic... The best part about it is that it has the option of taking off the Traction control and Stability control so you can actually slide the car on the curves while manipulating gear shifts via the manual shifter... drifting is just plain fun in the car on damp mornings...

Still, the regular TLs and CLs are fantastic cars. I considered the CL but my friend convinced me that it was an "old man's coupe." I don't think that's the case, but it offers just a bit too much refinement for my demands... Things will change as I get older, though...
