Default Gear/Tire Calculator

Hey guys/gals,

I designed a spreadsheet to simulate the changes in speed based on the final drive and the tire size (rim/sidewall).

It's a basic calculation, but I am not 100% sure that its representative of the actual numbers, so if you do decide to use the spreadsheet please be advised that there are most probably variances between actual numbers and the ones computed by Excel.

I don't know how to post or attach a file to the post so if anyone is interested please reply and leave a email address. Or is anyone wants to post the spreadsheet.

Also, please let me know if there are errors in my calculation. Thanks.

Jimmy

This already exists. Are you trying to re-invent the wheel?

xViper,

I was not trying to reinvent the wheel. I just thought it would interest people to get an excel version of the calculation.

I see that my calculation is about 1-2 miles more than the link you posted. I will have to double check my calculations.

Thanks.

I can host it for you. Use one of the Instant Messenger buttons below this post to catch me off S2Ki.

Not trying to diss your efforts. Just making sure you were aware that something already exists so you didn't do the same thing.
That link, I believe, takes into consideration tire deflection at speed.
Another way of looking at things is always good.

Thanks for the info xViper. Well if you are interested the spreadsheet does show four graph and charts

existing gear ratios, new tire size
existing gera ratios, old tire size
new gear ratios, net tire size
new gear ratios, old tire size

The four graphs and charts helps to visualize the effects of new gears and tires (sidewall) on the S. I'll have to look into a formula for tire deflection. Not sure if there is one.
