Default Gettin better... 12.6 in the 1/4.

I showed up to the track yesterday and managed to eke out a 12.6, still on stock tires. The funny part is that I had only 3 runs that night to do it because I arrived somewhat late. First run I managed to get a 13.0, but I forgot to twiddle with my boost settings, so I ran that at about .6 bar (8.8psi), so that actually wasn't too bad of a run. Next run I loosened the tire pressure a little more, let the engine cool off a bit more (heater + ac while the engine is off actually works very well, the bay was COOL when I got up to the line) and eyeballed a little bit more boost on my controller. Turned out I was actually closer to .72 bar that run (10.5psi) but I had a much better start. Tires spun about 15 feet and then grabbed, and I was off, landing myself a 12.6. Oh, and the vette on the bottle next to me didn't even look over at me after the race when I smoked his ass. Here's the total times - as you can see, 60 ft times are still a huge issue, and probably always will be with stock tires.

R/T: .528
60' : 2.264
330: 5.708
1/8: 8.418
MPH: 90.79
1000: 10.748
1/4: 12.682
MPH: 115.10

The third run I did for the evening I had let out even more pressure from the tires (down to about 25/26psi) and it was a fantastic start, the tires just spun around about 2 full revolutions then GRIPPED, no bogging.. And I missed 2nd gear. Probably would have been even slightly better than 12.6 too, but that's what next week is for right? Hopefully my rear end will hold up to this abuse.

PS: Thanks again for dinner, Pappy.

Chris, it was a thing of beauty...the Vette kept coming back for more. I still say we need to run again...as long as you turn down the boost.

chrisD you have the speed craft kit right? How much was the kit and installation. Also, what extras did you buy not included in the kit and those prices.
Thanks

Way to go Chris. Looks like our faith in you is justified :-). No doubt you'll see further improvement. When do you get some new tires? There's definitely 0.3-0.4 seconds there with a better launch.

Could you post the numbers for your other runs? 13.0 on lower than normal boost is not bad and I'd love to see the 60 ft on your misshift run.

BTW, outside of your 60 ft (which really isn't bad on stock, worn tires) your 12.6 run is about as good as one can hope for. Great R/T, great ET and great MPH. No wonder the Vette wouldn't look your way. You probably tattooed him off the line and kept pulling!

That MPH trap speed is very impressive. Anything close to 120mph and it starts to get "really fun". At 110, I didn't think the kit was worth it... but at 115 with no grip, it is starting to look tempting. I woulnd't be surprised if you are able to pull on 600cc sportbikes on the highway. With a "perfect" launch you should see low 12s easily.

Sure, here you go:

First run, 8.8 psi, slightly bogged launch:

R/T: .682
60': 2.206
330: 5.795
1/8: 8.602
MPH: 90.26
1000: 11.033
1/4: 13.039
MPH: 112.31

Second run, 10.5 psi, good launch

R/T: .528
60': 2.264
330: 5.708
1/8: 8.418
MPH: 90.79
1000: 10.748
1/4: 12.682
MPH: 115.10

Third run, 10.5 psi, excellent launch, misshift 2nd.

R/T: .556
60': 2.195
330: 5.980
1/8: 8.809
MPH: 89.82
1000: 11.241
1/4: 13.232
MPH: 111.26

Also of note - the 2nd run I bounced off the rev limiter in 4th.. I think I was already past the line but any faster and I'm gonna have to start going into 5th which isn't all that appealing.

Be sure to keep an eye on your differential and rear axles.

Exactly the reason I don't do this every week.
