Arrow Getting new thermostat put in today

So basically my engine would start overheating if I turned the heat on. Yes, you read that right.

Actually, all I have to do is turn the heat knob all the way to full heat and it will start overheating. This makes it sound like the thermostat is sticking or not functioning correctly.

I took it to Midas (closest most convenient place for me, since I can bike there) and they were like "I dunno, it probably won't fix it". So I just said, "I don't care, put in the new frickin thermostat!!!". After all, Midas was nice enough to not put on the oil cap after the last oil change. Good going guys!

Hopefully they won't f up this simple thermostat install.

There was no question. Did you see any question marks in my post?

Midas is asking $411 for the job, LOL. So much for that.

You'll replace my thermostat for me? Sweet, how much will you charge? Hopefully it'll be less that $411.

Thanks man, if you could pm the details that would be great!

Then why don't you be a real moderator and move it to "Under the hood". I'm sure it's only a few simple clicks of your mouse.

I say you're nuts for going back to them, but it's your call. Do the thermostat yourself, it's not a crazy job although it is in a weird place. I assume you're talking about the coolant thermostat. I'm no mechanic but you SHOULD have a fail-safe thermostat that fails OPEN which would cause your engine to be over-cooled. I don't see the relationship between your engine overheating and the heat being on, and the cause being the thermostat.

Come on guys, lighten up

You don't always have to pose a question, I think it's fine to make a comment around here and receive feedback.
