Getting rid of 05 stock tires.
Has anyone with an 04 or 05 gotten rid of the stock tires, right away? I have almost 3000 miles on my 05 and the more I drive it, the more I'm inclined to swap out the RE050's for some S02's or something of the sort. The RE050's just don't grip. I can make them spin from idle when the front wheels are turned. It's fun because I can pull a 180 while practically pivoting on the front wheels...and all this with no more than 4-5000 rpm and no noise from the tires! It's the same sensation you get when you have some grease on your rear tires from an oil spot. Just not that confidence inspiring on the freeway. Am I the only one that has noticed this or hate these tires?
Thanks,
Dimitri

SO2s dont come in 17s and they are the same rubber as the RE050s
are u doing this at 6am when its 45 degrees outside and tires still cold?
oh and please dont do anything stupid like driving at your car's limit and causing an accident... which ends up hurting all of us S owners in the pocket books when insurance rates go up because of people like you who drive like that on public roads

It's not your tires it's you alignment. Get your alignment done and you will notice a huge difference. Most who have driven both the SO-2 and the RE050 rates the RE050 as the better tire.
Definitely alignment. I thought my RE-050's were good before I had an alignment done, but afterwards they feel substantially better. And I just had the car aligned to NA specs... no aggressive camber settings.

I agree whole heartedly with Dmitri1979. The MY 04 stock tires suck. I bought Pirelli zero nero tires for the winter and immediately noticed far superior dry handling in all weather and temperature. Just last week, with cold weather being somewhat over, I put the stock tires back on so as not to just throw away tires still having usable tread and was again struck by the poor dry road grip of the stock tires. (Forget about wet weather grip, they are pretty much unusable.)
With the weather this weekend being 75 degrees and sunny, the stock tires will spin out with no provocation. In contrast, I ran the Pirellis all winter long, warm weather, cold weather, wet roads, dry roads, light snow and never had a problem.

Hommede - I have no idea how you find the RE-050 that terrible. It was 70 a couple of days ago here, and there was no way in hell I could make the tires break loose unless I were to launch the car (which I would never do)
