Default Getting rid of my S2k

Hello all,

When I was looking to buy a new car, I had four options: Audi TT, BMW Z4, and the Porsche Boxster. I test drove each of the cars and educate myself as much as possible. The result, I push a little red button to start the car (Thats enough hint)

During the time of owning the S2K, it has been such a positive experience. I fell in love with the simple layout of the instruments such as the Formula 1 inspired gauges. Of course I wonder why there is no clock in the car!?!!? But, I fantasias in my head that the designers/engineers/management did that because they want the driver to have no thoughts of work, school, love life, etc.. on the mind- simply enjoy the moment as if we are youth forever; buckled in a Red leather seat, hair blowing, and the radio Off because the sound of the engine after 5.8K is heaven. Okay fine, to be honest, the radio is Off also because our sound system is crappy ;] Happy?

The reason I mention the clock is this: It's my time to head back in school and finished what I started. Long story short, I left school because a designer saw my "talent" and I was hired as a product designer straight from class. During the next 5 years, I managed to purchase additional toys such as the Acura NSX, and the BMW 330 convertible.

Now I am 23 years old heading into 24 this September. I am at the point in life where you start asking yourself question about the future. I either cont' to live my life as is, which is decent. Or I continue my dream of becoming a Transportation Designer (Design cars for living) at Pasadena Art Center. I choose to chase my dream and put all of my energy towards school.

This is where it gets complicated. There is no way I can continue to support my current lifestyle and go to school at the same time. This is of course an honest evaluation of my financial condition. I had to stop kidding myself that I can float with three cars.

I can only keep one car. So what's a young man to do? Either its the NSX, S2k, or the 330. A little light on my NSX and the 330.

The NSX I own is a 1992 Blk/Blk with 45K Miles old. It was a one owner car and he had every record to date. The car runs smooth and fast. Unlike the s2k's ride, which is a bit hard. The NSX is more smooth- If your fortunate to drive a BMW M5, that's the feeling- without the look of a family man.

The BMW 330 is a 2003 silver/silver leather. Brand spaken new car, as with any BMW, the ride is smooth. Yes the car is quick, but not fast as the s2k. I at one point wish I was in my s2k when a M3 pulled next to my 330 while on the freeway ;] But I purchase the 330 for one main reason, because it fit more than two people. The 330 is just amazing in term of performance and total practicality. Never had a problem- I honestly never open the hood besides the basic oil check. If your interested in the BMW 3 series, I insist on getting the 330 and not the 328. Trust me, big difference. The performance of a M3 to certain extent of the power, but without the headache of the current M3 mechanical problem.

The s2k. Wow! Holy smack of all f.u.c.k Batman! Did I miss anything else? Yes the s2k is like that, stock! Nothing but a grin on my face and a big wide smile when driving the car. It's the kind of fun that only comes when your breaking the law. I love everything about this car, even the signature "bouncing" headlight that shines all the spectrum of a rainbow when the S2k is approaching.

So with all said, what did I choose? The NSX! Why? Because the NSX was the car that I always wanted. Its like owning a Ferrari without the fear of it breaking down. I drove the NSX hard and the only thing I had to check was the oil and tires. The silhouette of the NSX is low and wide. The sound of the NSX is not as exciting as the s2k- which sounds like a Ducati when VTEC kicks in, but it has a different feel to it, being the engine is behind me.

So here I am, waiting for Winter session. Living life as a student, again. Yes I wrote a letter to leave my corner window office facing the ocean for a life of books and markers ;] It was a fun adventure, living life as a working citizen. Now I'm doing the reversal. Moving back to my parents and finishing school!

Much luck and thank you S2K.

I know where you're coming from. I'm also going back to school to pursue interests in art and computers.

Good luck at the Pasadena Art Center. I toured their campus and was very impressed.

I have always since the day I recieved my licence had a toy! Hard work does pay for some things. I went to school full time and drove beaters to get back and forth to work ( lived on campus ) keeping my toy at the rents. Having had my degree for almost 5 years I was able to purchase some nice cars and finally got my wish and purchased my S2. Cars can be sold and loose value, but an education can never be taken away. You will revive your fleet one day, and sh*t you have an NSX which is at the top of the line for most people! Good luck with school and may your engineeering dream come true.

P.S. I will car sit your NSX any!

I initially posted on HT, than thought I may not get that many view on HT, I posted on s2ki, afterall... this was the first website that I sign-up when I purchase the s2k.

Looking for attention? Maybe. But the core reason why I share the story is plain and simple- Most of us here are going thru this stage or have gone thru it. Choosing which direction to go in life. Is it a job or a career? Do you like what your doing currently?

These are the question that was address and I wanted to share to the s2k community of my choices and hope that you find some entertainment in reading it.

It all tied up with the s2k because it was the car that share my beliefs of how a sport car should be- Mechanically sound and somewhat have no practical reason to own, its just a car to get because it's fun!

I remember heading to the dealer and was at one point intimated to even ask to test drive the s2k. Worst was at the BMW, Porsche, and Audi dealers. I guess when you take a city bus to the dealer- they speculate.

I wanted to end this post but I just have to share this last story about how the Chevy dealer treated me when I ask to even sit inside the Corvette. The sales men told me he lost the keys and could not find it! I felt like I walked into a time machine where only whites can touch the corvette- man needless to say I felt so insulted.

Thank you,

Vizal
