I encouraged my service advisor to test drive our RS4 and SC S2000.

Now he protects them like his own virgin daughter from the sleazy techs.

He's a real car nut and I feel lucky to have him looking out for my cars.

maybe test drive before to see if your wheel allignment was actually the problem. or maybe hes test driving it to make life easier for him to see what allignment of wheel needs to be done. sheesh your just over reacting.. until you see him ripping it or doing donuts then you should be worried.

I've a work colleague who uses a GPS datalogger when he has his mazdaspeed 3 serviced

loaded into google, some very VERY interesting information can be viewed. like 60mph bursts down short side streets and the like.

1 you dont know what the other vehicles where in the shop for so you cant use them as an example. 2 mechanics need to test drive the vehicle before and after to know what the promblem is and if it is fixed. I am a mechanic thats what i do. Now as far as the mechanics abusing your car or what not, did you see them driving crazy? and maybe you should tell them to test drive it with you in the car. You know you can do that right. if they have to test it tell them your sitting shot gun otherwise your not gonna let them work on it. Its easy as that, or you can just go to school and become a mechanic so you can be like me and do all your work yourself And yes alot of shops have4 bad people that dont care about you or your car and yes theyll rip you off.

For general oil changes and lubes I think I'd recommend a local Discount Tire store over any Jiffy lube type service.
The service is almost as fast and you actually have a guy under the car that might have some general mechanics knowledge.
The tire store will usually be a little/lot cheaper then "Jiffy".
You are also apt to recieve some type of a discount or even a free oil change with the purchase of a set of tires or shocks or some other free deal in the future if you should choose to have your cars routinly serviced there.
My experience is with a Big Ten that is about a half mile from my home.
I have recieved several perks that weren't advertised and have even had a free oil change that wasen't even mentioned with a set of tires.( I called the store and explained that I owed for the oil change and then was informed that I could forget it "it's free").
Of course I can't speak for every Discount Tire ,but it does have a very good chance to outperform any In and Out Jiffy type lube service.
If your not doing your own service , I 'd suggest you give your local tire discounter a try.

you need a modifry shift beeper and set it to 4k rpms or something... or lower the redline with aem or something. techs are usually dicks... especially after you show concern about what they are doing to your car and the way they are doing it. And don't even bother telling them no test-drives, that just puts the idea in their heads

I sit IN my car for the alignment process. The car doesn't drive itself and my weight WILL affect the alignment.
