would you suggest that she drive barefooted at first? I notice that sometimes i like to drive barefooted
i bought an 89 tercel hatchback for $500 once and used it to deliver pizzas. It was a 4-speed manual, cost $0 to maintain, and sold it for $500 after i quit the job. You should consider something like this as an alternative when teaching your gf manual.
Read this whole thread, nartnailuj sorry to hear about that bad experiance
I have taught standard before too. I guess most of us have. The part that I have found works best when teaching it, is explaining exactly what the purpose of the clutch is. For this I use my hands, 1 hand is the tranny and 1 hand is the clutch, and I pretend they are turning, and engaging slowly. Gives a good visualization of whats happening with each pedal, I find it helps.
Hope this tip helps.

thats cool... when i attempted to teach my ex how to drive in my S, she ran it off a curb and dented the bottom under the passenger door. and now you see why she is my EX! the S always has priority. (dumb whore)
I am so sorry, but this story is FULL of fail.
1. She's lying, the second accident was her fault. If she can't explain it properly, she's lying. Full stop.
2. You should NEVER teach someone how to drive stick by letting him/her backing out of a driveway, or from a slope, nothing. If she complains, tough. My car, my rules.
3. If she stalls 3-4 times in a row. Stop, talk about why it failed. Analyze what is going on, ask him/her what they're trying to do, and what you might want to try to correct that.
Sorry dude, I know at the end of the day it's just a car, but I would counter that it's just a girl. She may not be the one, dumping a girl is free, fixing a bumper and potential engine problems cost $$.
If she really wants to get into motor sport, F1 doesn't use manual tranny.

Dumping a girl saves money which can therefore be spent on the car
