Default glass rear window question

I'm an S2000 rookie (considering buying one) and was wondering if it is possible to fit the new glass rear window (used on the '02 and '03) to a '00 or '01. Or would you have to replace the whole convertible top?

thanks in advance for the help, Jim

I think I remember reading that you can use the same frame, but you must replace the whole top itself. Try doing a search on it.

is there a big blind spot on the s2k in the back? if u get a hard top would there be a larger window to see? or if u get convertible would there be? cause everytime I have driven a s2k there is a bad blind spot I have never driven a hardtop though.

Well, you can only by the car as a convertable. The hardtop is an option. there is a blind spot, but if you adjust the passenger mirror correclty, it is never a problem

The hardtop has a much larger window than the convertible top does.

Although this pic is very dark, you'll get an idea of its size.

If it's possible I can see it being very pricey. I wonder if the hard top has a rear defroster...if so, I wonder where the connector would go.

Try doing a search on this as I believe someone has already posted this topic.

All the best with your conversion.

The blind spot really isn't as bad compared to a Boxster or a Saab. And the turning radius is much, much better!

For pricing information on the OEM hardtop contact "Hardtopguy" by using the PM feature of this site.

The installation includes a defroster which adds a push-type switch to the central console not far from the gearshift.

To put the hardtop on or take it off requires two people (unless you have a pulley system) because it is large and awkward.

However, the top weighs only 44 pounds and goes on and off very quickly. Detach the defroster connector and 4 latches and it'll come off quicker than you can count to 60.
