Go out and look at your windshields
I've had my car since Dec. 9 and driven it 3200 miles or so. I've already accumulated hundreds of tiny unremovable chips on the windshield. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why the hell do our windshields suck so much and what can we do about it?
The OEM windshield is soft, which is probably for weight savings if nothing else, maybe just the way its made. Also, keep in mind, how its shaped, and how low your car is to the ground compared to other cars - this is another reason.

Get zero-deductible glass in your insurance policy. Obey the two-second rule and avoid following people too closely.
It's a low car. It's going to get chips. The windshield per se does not suck any more than any other.

I would think that this does have a lot to do with the problem. Lots of guys who post here have had other roadsters. Anyone care to comment as to how the windshields held up on those cars? I know that I took a fair number of dings on the windshields of the Preludes that I have previously owned.

I had to replace my original windshield a few hundred miles ago. My new windshield, a PPG, already has some pits in it. I don't think the original windshield is any softer than anything else.
I think the windshield pits so easily because of its angle which is fairly steep (upright). When rocks hit it, they don't ricochet off that easily and a lot of the force is directed right at the glass.

I guess thats what we get for having our windshields under a "rollbar: frame. The angle is pretty high so impact hits more direct. Oh well. I need a windshield soon too. Actually, I needed it 10k miles ago.
