Going comptech........here is my game plan.
I am supercharging my bone stock 01 s2000. I will use a new comptech kit, and have it done at comptech, to leave as little margin for error possible.
Ive searched a lot, and read lots of threads regarding the clutch, differential, engine troubles, etc. This will be interesting to see how the car holds up. Here is my preventative maintenance plan;
1. Synthetic transmission fluid.
2. Synthetic diff fluid. Just had the first change done at 15k miles. Mech said it was quite dirty.
3. Switch to synthetic oil, been running the regular oil till now, with not a drop consumed between changes.
4. Driving style: Ive YET to launch this car hard. The most Ive done ever is easing the clutch at 4-5k rpms, and that was done just once. I dont plan on upgrading the clutch...I prefer it be the weak link in the drive train, and take any abuse before further damage is done.
So far, Im going to be on the look out for:
1. Fuel smell (fuel pressure regulator issues?)
2. Slipping clutch.
3. The catalytic converter going south on me. This is a problem with the latest kits as well?
4. Diff problems: here is my question. I know launching at 8k rpms at the track will murder the diff immediately (but Im not worried about ever being in that situation), but what about a run through the gears at redline? The blown car will be making more power and torque....would that be enough to cause drivetrain problems in normal, occasionally spirited driving?
This is my daily driver, and it is babied quite a bit. No banging shifts, no chirps, no burnouts. How do you think it will hold up? Does anyone else on here with a similar agenda have a blower on their car? How have things fared?

I dont think I will go for the gears, as I make frequent trips to LA from SF and back.
Fingers crossed on the clutch. I just had mine replaced under warranty (TSB) at 12k miles, and its now got 23k on it, with no problems at all.

Im assuming that they will be able to retrofit the aftercooler to the existing kit. That, along with a smaller pulley to run more boost safely will probably equate to similar numbers re: vortech.
I plan on getting the aftercooler as well, but will probably pass on the smallerpulley initially. My old car, which was supercharged, was not intercooled, and heatsoak under heavy use or on hot days caused a noticeable difference in power. The aftercooler may cause a slight loss of boost (pressure drop between the blower and the intake), but it would be made up for by colder intake temps, plus you wont have to worry about losing 15-30hp as the system gets hot.

I've had the Comptech kit for about 2-3 months now. I've had a few auto-x events with the kit, but never launch my car. So far, no problems with the stock clutch, etc. I'm looking to do the 4.44 gears and/or aftercooler next.

Anyone ever consider or look into "harmonic vibrations" caused by the SC? From what I've gathered, it will eventually ruin your main bearings.
