Good Deal or Bad Deal?
My dealer offered me a 30k trade in for my 02 Suzuka Blue S2000. I actually wanted a silver, but at that time, they didn't have a Silver, so they offered me to buy the blue, while I wait for the Silver... 30k trade in value under the conditions that they have 9 months, and I don't drive more than 5000 miles. However, they said that it will be most likely that they will have a Silver in 2 months time. I bought the blue for 500 off MSRP. But paying for tax is a total loss :-(.
I thought it was a good deal, since invoice value is around 30k for a 02 S2000.
Anyways, which color you guys like better? Sebring Silver or Suzuka Blue? I have real life people tell me that Suzuka blue looks better. But they have yet to see a actual Sebring Silver S2000.
Thanks.

i have seen both the sebring and the suzuka in person. honestly, i am partial to the suzuka...i think it's a bit more striking of a color...both colors are great nonetheless. you can't go wrong.

I'm a little confused by your post and query. So, you bought the blue for $500 under MSRP. Pretty good deal, though certainly some have done better, many worse.
So, you can trade it in for $30K toward the purchase of a silver '02? At what price would they sell the silver '02? If they offer at MSRP, you have then paid (MSRP-$500)+(MSRP-$30K) which equals MSRP+(MSRP-$30.5K) or about $2K over MSRP just to get the color you want, and have a different one to drive 2-9 mths while you wait for your preferred color. I don't call that a good deal. Oh, you do get a car with up to 5K less miles on it when you eventually sell (not a big diff). And a few mths added to warranty coverage.
You said something about "But paying for tax is a total loss". Don't understand this. At least in NY, if you trade in a car, you only pay tax on the difference. But if in your state you have to pay the tax twice, you are seriously screwed and I'd call it a horrid deal.
As to color. It is really your opinion that counts, not ours. FWIW, I say a blue a couple of weeks back and thought it looked quite nice. And I far prefer the Silverstone to the Sebring silver.

If I hadn't moved from the East Coast to Phoenix a couple of months ago, I'd trade my MY02 Sebring for your Suzuka in a heartbeat. Nothing wrong with the silver, it's gorgeous. But Suzuka is in a class by itself. Ok fine, it's in a class along with Montecarlo blue.
