Default Got into an accident,

I got into an accident last night , I was driving home when my car lost control and hit the curb (Sleet), the damage was pretty bad, Ill try to get some pix next time. but from looking at it the Axle was broken, my rim was bent pretty bad, tire is gone, and the rotor is cut in half, The guy who towed my car said he knows a bodyshop that can do it for a cheap price and gave me his #. talked to the guy and he said it'll cost around $1800 approx ( not including the tire/rim). Now from experts around here or those who have been into a similar situation. Is that a good price or am I being ripped off?..I really dont want to involve insurance right now because my deductible is $1000, and an extra $800.00 is not that bad. So what do u guys think? Pls help

that's way too cheap...it should be way more than that...take it to a reputable shop
and that is the preliminary estimate before taking the car apart....there can be other damage that cannot be seen as of yet

Hey, sorry to hear about the accident. I spun out on the freeway and hit the wall. but the only thing that happen was 2 cracked rims, bent knuckle, bent straight rod lookin thingy, and bent lower control arm. took it to a frame shop and they did everything. I think i had spent close to $2000.

That seems like the right ballpark, actually. Maybe a little low. Price for the tire/rim is another $700 if you pay retail.

Most body shops don't actually do this sort of thing themselves, they subcontract out to mechanics. It doesn't sound like any of the damage you listed is bodyshop type stuff.

did any body panels get messed up? i would go to the honda dealer and pic up the new parts and just throw them on.....take it to a frame shop and make sure the chassis is cool and ur striaght.......when body panels and frame damage accures is when a professional shop should come into the picture....IMO
