How many miles do you have on your car?

Hey Boxter,
Congrats on your purchase! Is it a 2000 or 2001 model year?

I hope i'm not too late, but hopefully you have been advised not to v-tec the car until after you have broken the 600 mile mark.

Frank,

That was the point of my question. Not that lack of break in will cause clutch slippage, or strange vibration (yet anyway). But lack of run in will lead to problems in the future, such as prematurely worn piston rings, and valve seals.

boxster,

I would voice your concerns with the dealer. The clutch slippage is something that has happened to some of us at varying intervals. Vibration under launch is a new one on me. If you mean a low RPM launch, near stalling the car, yes there have been reports of that. Mine even does that. Under load, with low RPMs, there is a lot of shudder created. That causes several different things to vibrate. The sun visors are one of the noisiest things on the car, in addition to the passenger's seatbelt tongue rattling against the area behind the door. There have also been reports of the heat shield, in front of the exhaust header located in the engine bay, rattling with low RPMs.

Hope this helps...

Paul

I'd suggest a name change before "Boxter" gets to 3 posts! How about X-Boxter?

BTW....welcome to the club!

i think that your username is fine, but would suggest that you have a clear signature so that everyone knows that you also have a stook- also would like to know what your VIN is and color...
