Can't you just toss this thing on the dash as you approach the toll area and then put it in the glove box?

Yea, I don't know what his thought processes were at that moment, but
his mind was obviously playing tricks on him. He musta missed the memo
concerning FasTracs and their use!

There were a lot of questions I wanted to ask him, like

1. If he had the radar gun on me, why didn't it work? Since it's not a jammer,
he should've been able to see my speed readout. Unless, of course, he
didn't know how to work the thing, or it malfunctioned. That's probably what
tipped him off.

2. Why did he think I had a radar jammer and not a radar detector? I know
there's a difference, and I know they're both illegal in Calif.

3. Did he read the word "stupid" on my forehead? Now, who in their right mind
driving a sports car, would blatantly have an illegal radar detector in plain view?
I'm driving an S2000, for cryin' out loud!

Perception is not always reality, as the saying goes. Hey, I've been pulled over
drinking a creme vanilla soda, when the cop thought I was swiggin' a beer. Kinda
like that...

Flyin Wedge,

thanks for the input. I've tried that approach, but sometimes I had a brain fart and forgot
to throw it up there! Then I get a form in the mail saying "you didn't pay", blah blah blah.

I'm gonna take the JDRACING approach to FasTrac. Stick it in the console.

It's accurate, down to the time of day and what lane you passed through. FasTrac has my
credit card number and it charges $3.00 each time I pass over any of the several bridges here.
Once a month, I get a statement from Fastrac stating every day I passed through, the time,
the lane, etc. It's kinda spooky to know THEY know where you're going each day. And if for
some reason I'm going too fast through the toll, like over 30-40 mph, I'll get the notice in the
mail stating "your car did not pay, etc..blah blah blah". Big Brother is definitely watching me.

I assume it's working just like the I-Pass transmitters here in Illinois. The transponder has a unique number that's being transmitted to the toll station, and it's linked to your credit card. First you charge it to $40, then every time you pass a toll station money gets deducted, when you get below $10 they hit your credit card for another $40.

The old models used to make a beeping sound; the new ones are silent. You know it works when the light at the toll booth turns green. And with the express lanes, I figure it's just too bad if their technology sucks and doesn't catch my signal because I am going too fast.

When did radar detectors become illegal in CA?

I'll have to check that. I'm assuming it is, unless the law has changed recently. Maybe that's
why he didn't mention "detector"? I'm not up on all the recent laws concerning
electronic radar devices, but now maybe I should...
