Default Got pulled over tonight...

... and got a ticket for running a stop sign. Yeah it sucks. Worst part of the whole thing is about a month ago a cop pulls me over and starts asking me about my car. How i like it, and how it drives and what not. He then tells me that this is the car he wants, but doesn't want to pay 5k over msrp. Well tonight guess who pulls me over. Yep the same cop. He told me he felt bad that he pulled me over. He said something that if he knew it was me he wouldn't have pulled me over. And to make things worse I was in my drive way when he pulled me over. It was because you make a right turn and my house is the second one. I was bummed, because i almost made it in my gurage before he got to me. Oh well I can go to traffic court to get out of this one.

Isn't that considered private property ... ? If so, how can you be booked on any type of private property? That's an international law that is true I believe. Works in Japan, same here in Australia too anyway. Well firstly, I think the cop is definitely being an ass ...

What makes it that he pulls you over and can't give you a warning instead than a ticket and he even said that he feels bad about it? Man that's just - F O C - ... Oh well, let's see what happens in court. You need to justify that, anyway though running a stop sign is definitely some serious offence I feel compared to driving over the speed limit on the freeway.

Have you ever driven in America? As a UK driver who lived in New Jersey for a year, the stop signs drove me crazy. They were completely over the top and unnessary.

I don't think so. You can be arrested / ticketed for all sorts of things on private property.

A neighbor of mine got picked up for DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol) right in his own driveway. I saw the whole thing including the sobriety test right in front of his house and neighbors. I guess he thought he was home free once he got to his driveway. They put the silver bracelets on him and took him away. Talk about embarassing

No flame intended but,

Dude you ran a stop sign.

Who the hell cares if he got you in your driveway??

Why would you fight it?

Just say "hey I made a mistake, and now I will pay for it".

You play, you pay.

Pay more attention to stop signs next time!!

OR am I missing something??

Once the police are in persuit the pricate property laws go out the window. Jurisdiction boundries are also dropped during a chase.

If their is a chance of getting out of it.. why not?

Never admit to anything, and always get a lawyer.

Hey Bentrim,

That should be the motto of the USA.. Hmmm maybe put it on your license plate:

"NOT GUILTY, TALK TO MY LAWYER"

USA - The most litigious nation in the world.

I've gotten away once from not stoping at a stop sign. I made a right turn and a cop was waiting there...he gets out of the car and pulls me over...I told him that there were no pedestrians and no cars around so it was safe to turn my car without stoping...he thought about it and let me go...1hr later i'm driving on a steep downhill at around 40mph in a 25mph zone and who drives the other way?? The cop who earlier let me go...As we drove past each other he had the enfuriated look that he couldn't believe he just let me go and now was speeding and couldn't do anything because he couldn't turn around. He got me a week later.
