Well, that's MY story anyway. I was going north on Mopac freeway in Austin (near 183) at the normal 74/75 mph in the fast lane (speed limit 65: yeah, right, if you enjoy extensive random rear end modifications). There was a 250/350 series pickup right behind me who obviously wanted to do 80+ and considered me only a mild impediment. I blipped the throttle to clear the guy in the lane next to me who was going about 73.

The laser beam apparently caught me at the max (of course) right before I moved over. Our odo calibration is pretty good, I glanced down and saw 83, and that's what the officer's report card said. Officer (motorcycle) was mildly sympathetic, but wrote the ticket for 75/65 anyway. Guess I have a driving course in my future (haven't had a ticket in a LONG time). Anybody know a good/short/amusing "traffic school?"

Hey Race_fan, be sure to watch the Central Texas board this weekend... if you feel like braving Mopac again, I'm having a barbecue on Sunday and I live in Wells Branch!

race_fan, sorry to hear about your ticket. I got one about a year ago and took defensive driving online at my convenience. Check out http://www.txdriving.com for details. Good luck; those SUVs can be a real bitch!

I went to a real fun traffic school last year. Included pizza and we watched some videos. Not too many cuz they'd put me to sleep. It was very interactive and we went outside and played with radar guns.

This is no joke. I really enjoyed it. I've been to boring ones before, but this one I'd go again, if I had to.

Ivs2k -- thanks for the link! S2K Fan's school sounds like fun, but not sure it's worth the 1200 mile commute.

Man that bites. I hate those full ton duallys. Why do they by a vehicle then spend their whole day cruising the parking lot for a space big enough?

race_fan, you're welcome for the link. Those big trucks just kill me. I pulled out in front a black dooley yesterday with plenty of time to accelerate and get out of the guy's way. This must have ticked him off, because he gunned it, passed me (wasn't worth a race) and then whipped back in front of me. What a jerk!
