gpw and silverstone
Was in your same shoes. Careful looking for GPW.. Some bad scammers out there. I don't want to spook you out of doing what you want to do but I was in search for a GPW for the LONGEST time 4-5 months. Out of the 3 GPW's I was interested in 2 of them were scammers and 1 of them had lied about their car's title. :/ I just got a killer deal on a MY00 Silverstone with 24,000 miles. Silverstone looks real sexy in person. I have to admit though in pictures they aren't much (I hated this color due to seeing them through pictures only.) Neutral colors like Silverstone just don't look good in pictures since they blend in with the background. If you can and have the time for it, see every color in person. Truthfully, I still think GPW is one of the sexiest colors.
IMO:
Silverstone looks best with modified exterior (CF parts, etc.)
GPW looks cleanest. (Stock or with mods)
Berlina black looks the most aggressive.
NFR looks like the best "show car".
Every other color I personally dislike but the S2000 is ultimately (regardless of what color) one of the sexiest over-looked car. 50 or so years from now it will be a classic car for sure.
Just my opinion since this topic seems to come up so often.

Wait it out until you find exactly what you want. It took me about a year to find an 02 GPW with low miles around me but it was worth the wait. Had I settled for a different year or color, I would have always regretted it a little.
i was going through the same problems, i found a certified '05 yellow, '05 silverston, and '06 LBP for a good price but no GPW. I did find a GPW but it had obviously been in a rear end collision =*( Although Silverstone did do it for me....besides its easy to keep clean!
Yeah make sure you are happy with what you get and do not just settle unless you don't really care that much. Personally I love Silverstone. I think it is the classiest color and look. Hides dirt really well also which helps for me living in the northeast.
As long as you are happy with your final decision and don't regret it. That's what matters. Don't want to be kicking yourself every time you see a GPW since you didn't buy one.

My first S was Silverstone, and I loved it. My second (AP2) was Suzuka Blue because the dealer didn't have and Silverstones in stock. The color grew on me. My next S will most likely be Silverstone, as I still prefer that color, but I was in no way regretful of my choice to settle for blue.
I have on 03 GPW w/tan. One of the advantages of a white car w/tan interior in the sun belt is not having to sit on black seats while driving with the top down. I'm was in the opposite situation you are in. I knew what car I wanted, but I wasn't quite ready to buy when the car I wanted (AP1, GPWw/tan) came up for sale from a private seller near my house. The deal was too good to be true, and the car was in good shape. I went ahead and bought it, and two years later its still the best purchase I've ever made.
Good luck. I say wait for exactly what you want. S2000s aren't as common as miatas, but they are much easier to find than RX7s, Porsche 928s, and 944 turbos, and Nissan 240s that haven't been modded for "mad tyte JDM drifting."
