Great, great value.
I am picking up a MY04 Berlina Black on Black tomorrow. I wanted to say thanks for all of the great info on this website. This will be the first convertible I have ever owned, which is going to be an interesting experience since I don't even like sunroofs, but I always enjoy riding in my friend's Miata. I guess I am a weirdo.
In the end, I chose the s2000, because it offered the most value out of all of the sports cars/sedans I was looking at. My last car was a MY02 IS300, which I chose based on its value(all bells and whistles for 32K). Even though, there are many, many great cars over 30K, I have always felt that 30K should get you something fairly special. Maybe I am either really cheap or just delusional, but for your 30K you should get: more than a Golf(R32), solid interior build quality(passed on the 350Z), plain old seat of the pants oomph(lacking in the RX8), and more than a dressed up econobox(see STi and Evo).
It took me two long months of daily reading, evaluating, and test drives to make my decision, and all of you are right, the s2000 has a unbelievable shifter, a screaming engine(way more than the GSR, which I have owned), Honda quailty fit and finish, and I am in love with its looks.
I look forward to joining your community.
Thanks,
Steve
