Everyone was pretty fair, except for the guy saying that his NA has a better entry speed and then talking about our "silly traction control". When will people realize that VSA is not traction control?

The OP is HILARIOUS and a very well spoken writer as well. My favorite line was this one.
I threaded the car into the corner and gently eased on the gas, knowing the VTEC surge and ensuing drift would be enough to anger the traction control. 3 quarters of the way through the corner, I heard the pitch of the motor change. The little terrorist of an engine that seconds ago had sounded like an accord barked out a glorious high pitched shriek.
All in all I thought it was a GREAT review.

haha, i had fun reading that.

That guy will make a great writer someday. I wouldnt be surprised if he is majoring in journalism...

One thing that made me smirk was this;

"The S2000 is the serious and quiet kid who every weekend downs a 5th of Jack Daniels dons a black leather suit and goes base jumping off the Empire State Building. It may not have your best interests at heart but it sure is a thrill to spend time with. Its the car that is constantly asking you, 'are you sure you don't want to push just a little farther and go a little faster?' "

Great post on the miata forum.

Wow he's got some talent. I wouldn't mind having a miata for track days sometimes.

VSA is traction control + stability assist. It does two different things (this is my unscientific understanding of how it works) :

1. When the tires lose traction and you're on the throttle, it will remove throttle input until you regain traction -- This is very easy with DBW, which is probably why Honda implemented it that way on the S2000. There are however cars that were made w/o DBW that also have VSA or the older TCS.

#1 is known as traction control.

2. When you are turning, sensed by the car's YAW sensors and it also senses one of the tires loses traction, it will apply the brakes to that one wheel until you regain traction.

#2 is known as stability assist.

There's a lot more going on with the VSA software that detects a world of different things to determine when to remove throttle input, and when to apply the brakes to a spinning wheel, but thats the basic jist of it.

However, unlike many manufacturers that have different levels of "how much" the software will intervene (some don't even have a way to turn it completely off), Honda/Acura only has 2 settings, completely on and completely off. VSA will not work if you turn it off -- which is great for when you want to have fun in the 2006+ S2000s

That was a very well written post though! It makes me want to go out and drive my Stook!
