Default Greetings from Singapore

ITs been really great to locate this site .......... gee, you can literally find everything you need to know about the S2000 and realize that there are so many like minded people around

Just purcahse a resale '00 S2K recently (Would you believe it, there are only 20 on the road in my country and it cost about $US 110K for the brand new ones here).

Been following on some of the TSB threads on the clutch disc and 1-2 gear grind etc. Tried printing and showing it to the only Honda dealer here but they claim the problems exist for U.S. owners only. They even cited that the TSBs in this site did not include the chasis number of my 00' S2K ....... what a total piece of crap !!

Thought perhaps I could turn to you guys for some advice .... is there any recourse to contact Honda Japan or other alternative feedback in the event that the local dealer refuse to buy the story even if i show proof of the TSBs from this site ?

Clutch and grind aside, I have been looking forward to driving the babe everyday ........ thought I have gotten over the thrill of top down driving (being an ex miata owner), but hey, the S2000 is a 'Miata on Steroids' as some has rightly put it. Guess what, some of the local miata club owners test drove the car the other day ...... and man, you should have seen the faces ..... bet they are waiting to get hands on one soon.

ok doke, time to check out the rest of this site ............. hear from you guys yeah ?!

Ric

Welcome to the board lah! I only saw two S2000's in Singapore last year when i was working there but both times the drivers had the top down and looked like they were really enjoying themselves (despite the hot humid day) ( I really missed my car when i was there!)

Must really suck to only have Kah Motors to work with. You would think that getting a S$200k+ car would entitle you to better service. I hope you find an alternate method of getting solutions to your problems. maybe some of the members who went to Japan last year and met with folks at the Tochigi factory can assist you in getting in touch with someone in Japan.

Good luck and enjoy!

Yes indeed I have my fair share of working experience in Singapore, it's a joke to buy a new S2000 in Singapore ... How much did the old one set you back for? Not to mention, that COE law is kinda dumb as well. But Singaporeans are either rich or in the middle class. True enough the speed limit is too low but I'm sure you won't have a problem trying to outrun a TP on the expressways.

One thing good though, it's like HK ... Singapore gets alot of JDM spec vehicles and you could really settle for anything. A new JDM DC5 Integra Type R would do good enough for me if I was to be working in Singapore for a longer period if ever in future. Welcome aboard nevertheless, I'm sure the car turns alot of heads along Orchard Road especially in dusk when the night is starting to come alive ... With those HIDs and top down, you can practically pick up any nice girl with a nice attitude.

I got it for quite a bargain ...... S$130K for a 22 month old S2k (and done only 13,000 km) ......i guess its a bargain ... relative to the new car price.

Out run the TP?? Just the other night, i had one tail gating me and hoping that I'll V'Tech the baby ......... on hind sight I should have just done that

Hey that is not too bad ........ considering there is only 20 on the road. Just the other day, I brought the car to Kah Motor and the security guard insisted that I parked it in the visitor lot (he thought it was some other makes)

.........so what car were you driving when you were here

Just spoken to the manager today .... they have agreed to replace the clutch disc but the countershaft will have to take some convinving .... basically they are not confident to tear apart the tranny and replace the 1st and 2nd countershaft. Guess I will go with the clutch disc replacement first ........... any idea if I should change the flywheel, bearings and pressure plate as well ??
