Off the cuff, I would say if it was w/i the city limits its bad news for you. Once it leaves a city, the CHP and Sheriff are the only legal ones.

I have fought a ticket before, but I had proof he was wrong. I had fused my throw-out bearing and was on my way to get it fixed. No shifting and I was in 1st. No way I could do 40 w/ a Fiero in 1st. He said he had me on radar; it invalidated the entire day of speeders caught in that trap. Made the cop look like a total idiot.

I have a radar detector. Doesn't work because they rarely use radar in Cali anymore. I'm thinking of getting one of these for Xmas. http://www.ammtech.com/bct12.htm My friend has one in his Tahoe. Because it works off of RF, it can be put anywhere (well almost). Alerts you when you are close to a emergency vehicle. Also works w/ the cops computers which are on all the time. Can discriminate between the different emergency frequencies. Lets you eavesdrop on the police band chatter.

It would kind of suck to hear, "In pursuit of a silver sports car heading S on 101." At least you can slow down, so the ticket won't be so big.

nvmys2k.... you're very welcome. I really do hope the info helps you (and any others out there).

Perhaps you should tell the judge you are a (California State) Trooper, with four stars? It might impress him!

After seeing your record, that is extremely low. No accidents w/ a Fiero and 18 cost me $2200 / 6mon. That was 8 years ago.
