So do we know yet if the 2001's have the grind or not? I have grinded once...driver error though

Other than that time it has shifted at 9k rpms into second like butta

I do notice this car needs to be shifted differently from any other honda I have driven...you can't just bang gears like in my GSR or Si.

I imagine it's not exactly balmy out there right now. Most of the grinding issues happen when the ambiant temp. is high and there is a fair amount of heat in the transmision. While I have this problem, it doesn't happen to often and only when I have been sitting at a light for a while. Considering this problem was known before the release of the '01's I doubt that you will have a problem regardless of temperature.

I think the jury is still out on MY 01. We need more reports from owners in the south because it is a heat related problem, plus, I didn't have the problem until the break-in period was over. When the car is working right, gear shifts can be lightening fast without grinds. When it wants to grind, slow shifts are too fast.

I highly doubt any 2001s will have the grind. Honda knew there was a problem with the 2000s, and released a bulletin on it. They're not stupid enough to release 2001s with the same problem. Just look at the seatbelt problem, they fixed that up for the 2001s.

What difference does it make? These lousy Honda dealers REFUSE to fix the grind, even when it was reported to zone prior to the service bulletin, documented 3 other times, and now the service bulletin has been issued. Per our District Service Manager, if they can't replicate the problem, they won't fix it! That's F*cking irresponsible!!!

Hey Randy! Could you have your shop call my shop?? Geessh Mine is the same way, wont fix it unless they can re-do it. What the heck is their prob anyway? its not like there are 30,000 a year in the US and not even all of the S2000's have it. . .

JD-

You really shouldn't "bang" the shifter. You should treat it like your significant other's "sensitive areas".

Shift with just three fingers. Be smooth. Never rest your hand on the shift knob- it's a bad habit. That's all the shifter needs to be happy... Any more than that input and your trans will hate you a few years from now...

While I didn't have to have them test drive it, this is the standard response. I suggest you give them a 30 minute demo ride and scare the sh!t out of the tech if they demand it. Then explain that Honda admits it is intermittent. If that doesn't work, find a better service department.
