I can get to the back of the bulb to disconnect the plug to the posts, but beyond this I am mystified as to what to do next. The Helm manual offers no help whatsoever, it seems. Anybody with the page I'm not seeing or the method? TIA.

PS: This is the high beam not the HID. The manual is fine with HID.

I'm with Prolene. I checked the Helm manual, too, and as far as it's concerned, the high beam lamp does not exist.

The directions are in the owners manual on pages 194 and 195. I replaced mine with PIAA H-56 SUPER WHITE 3800K H1 80W bulbs. These bulbs actually draw 80 watts are claimed to shine like 130 watt bulbs. Seeing the results, I'm inclined to believe the claim. Although they are still only half as bright as the HID's, it makes up for the inefficient reflectors on our cars.

Thanks, Dshea, will give it a go since it is in the regular owners manual.

The worst part is that you can either see or feel. You can't do both. You have to remove the waterproof dam over the back of the light. It's not as hard as it seems.

Did a dry run in prep for the Solaris'. You're right, it does take patience. The metal tab needs to be replaced by feel as does that rubber "dam". Thanks.

Not sure if you're the same person who emailed me but here are some simple instructions.

1) Disconnectthe plug

2)Pull the rubber gromit out, there's a tab on the top that will help you.

3)Under that there's a little metal clamp that holds the actual bulb in place, it hinges on one side and latches on the other. Unlatch and swivel to the side then pull the bulb *straight* out.

4)Disconnect the bulb from the female mount, and plug in the new bulb. Make sure you do not directly touch the bulb in any way while plugging it into the mount, when inserting it back into the housing, try to put it in as straight as possible.

5) reverse procedures and make sure the rubber gromit is back on tight and snug. A couple of extra pushes around the circumference doesn't hurt.

Voila!

Don't touch the bulb with your fingers, and whatever you do, don't lick it.

Well, if you are going to lick it, be sure that you turn it off first, or you will have to go to the hospital.com
