Default had a little chat with a 2004 s2k owner today...

he saw me checking out his silverstone s2k and we started chatting about it. i told him how i'm interested in purchasing a 2004 s2k. apparently, he has a friend who works for honda usa and according to the dude, a new model of s2k will be out within 2 years. the guy seemed to be talking out of his ass. didn't really know much about his own car (2004 s2k).

i try to keep up with the s2k world and i have not heard of this new model comming out. has anybody heard of this "new" s2k supposedly comming out within 2 years? i saw a small article on a magazine once. it said something about s2200 or something. it was a hatchback kind of design (not convertable). could this be what he was talking about? it makes sense tho, the s2k has been out for 4 years now right? so isn't it time for honda to bring out the new model?

i really like the 2004, but if a new s2k is comming out soon, i would rather wait for the new model.

I think that hatch back photo was photoshopped , who knows. if you like it, you better get it now. if you wait for too long , they probably will discontiune it.

Get the 2004, IF there are changes 2-4 yrs from now you can always trade.

That image of the fixed roof hatchback car has been circulating for a long time now, and the general consensus is that it's a fake. It looks like a mediocre Photoshop job to me... It's certainly possible that a new redesigned S2000 is around the corner, but nobody knows that for sure. I'm pretty sure your dude was talking out of his arse.

the 04's were rumored to be called the S2200 due to it's 2.2l engine over the previous 2.0l. However it remained the S2000.

Obviously the hatchback was photochopped. It has the "old" nose and rims.

technically the 2004 is the new s2000... new motor, different styling, softer suspension, etc..
i highly doubt we will see a "new" model of the s2000 any time soon, for the next few years it will all be minor upgrades from the MY04...
thats my opinion anyway

so i'm guessing the s2k isn't like the rest of hondas in terms of new generations comming out every 4-5 years. usually, a car gets a little make-over (headlight/taillight switch) then the new gen comes out.

i've just found a little article from temple of vtec regarding the 2004 s2k. it states that the 2004 makes much more power (241 hp to the wheels). how reliable is temple of vtec anyways? they seem to have done a thorough job on testing the new s2k imo.

most of the dynos I've seen are about 205. That's 5-10 more than the 00-03. It certainly is NOT 241 to the wheels. They may have dynoed a car at that, but the dyno could either be miscalibrated or they did it wrong.

also, the 04 wasn't a big change. the motor is really the same, with a few changes...it took MINIMAL incremental expense to develop it. The bumpers? Honda had so many bumper designs for the S that they probably just used one of the alternates on the 04 (I notice the diffuser in the back which evolved away on the 00-03 is back). Also, the taillights look exactly like the prototype
