Default A hail of a day...

the other day I was stuck in a hail storm... I barely had time to put the top back up. Yesterday I went to state farm... $3500 is the estimate. New hood, new trunk lid... every panel just about. Between this an the $1000 plus for getting rear ended... it lookes like my car is about to get $5k worth of work done to it. I am also going to get the front bumper cover replaced where I was backed into... it will cost me $250 out of pocket but will be worth it.

Any ideas on how to make sure they put only new honda parts on it? The quote from Travellers(insur for the lady that rear ended me...) states refurbished oem parts.... I have already explained that they are not putting refurbished parts on it...

State Farm(my insur) said the hood is only $400!

Tell them you want only brand new OEM parts. Then go to the body shop and watch them order the parts. Then go back when the parts are there and make sure they are all new.
I did that for my Accord (it was like 5 days old when someone rear-ended me)
They have to, dont let them get their way. Fvcken insurance, they are all crooks....i hate them

Columbus area had a hail storm about a month ago that hit an area with lots of auto dealerships. All the dealers were having hail storm sales. Honda dealer had a new '03 S2000 that had trunk, and hood damage for "$4-5,000" off MSRP.

I saw a $46,000 Acura MDX marked down to $35,000, too. Mother Nature has a funny sense of humor!

Just had my front and rear bumpers replaced. Was hit from behind and driven into the car in front of me. Worked with Nationwide and they wanted to use refurbished (they remold your original) and I wanted new. The cost difference was only $250. The refurbs came back looking like cra* and they replaced with new.
Just have to keep fighting.

If I were you guys i would not get a repaint. Go to one of the paintless dent repair shops and for approx 500 bucks the car will look like new. Unless you are stripping most of the car a repaint will look like crap. The paint rarely matches perfectly and they never do a good job masking (because when repainting nothing should be 'masked'). If you want the job done right all of the plastic moulding should be removed both bumpers removed... all door handles, emblems, 3rd brake light, headlights, tailights, under wheel liners, windshield wiper nossles... the works.... Otherwise you have paint all over mouldings... even if they don't get it on the mouldings their prep job (ie sanding) will not go all the way to the edge and paint wont adhere as well near mouldings (ie peeling and cracking a few years down the road)

Can you tell i've done this a few times before? Oh and if you have to get it painted make sure you have some crappy spare wheels to put on the car because no matter how much they tell you they won't get paint, stripper, etc on your wheels... they will.
