Default Handbrake Issue

The handbrake in my car needs to be almost fully engaged for it to hold. I went to adjust it and found that I have to almost fully tighten it for it to hold after a few clicks of engagement. The issue is that when it is disengaged, it rubs against my wheel slowing it down. I also found this was happening even with the handbrake nut fully loose. Basically, it didn't matter how I adjusted the handbrake, when it was disengaged either the rotor or the pad was rubbing which was dragging the wheel to a stop. Has anyone had any experience with this or know the best solution to stop the dragging? Thank you!

Disconnect the handbrake from the brake caliper. If it still drags you need a refurbished caliper.

You likely need a caliper. Check.

Or your cable is massively stretched. Check.

Would slacken cable, adjust calipers pistons, and asses how much cable needs adjustment.Retry .
