Default Hard Top and numbered plate

I thought I'd seen a numbered plate somewhere on the hardtops from Honda.

I've looked everywhere for it and nothing.

Was it something the dealer should have attached?

I purchased my hard top used and there was a small plastic oval plate at the back in the center.

It had some wording on it like "Custom made for" and a vin number.

Just a little double sided tape holding it on, popped right off with no trouble at all.

It would be dead center in the back, below the window. If it were there, you would see it.

It is about 1 7/8'' x 3/4".

I was a little confused on the wording.

They only did this very early on. The first hardtops had to be ordered with your VIN so the factory could get you the right installation parts. I don't think they have done this for almost 3 years now. So you can stop looking now.

i just talked to the dealer and they said they still come specifically with the correct vin number to your car if you buy it new from the dealership.

He is a dealer right? He is lying.

And the 2002 is the last year they are making the S2000 too.

I bought an '04 with the hardtop in the deal and it didn't come with this tag. I picked up the top (in the box) from the dealer when it came in, and there was nothing in the box or mounted on the top.
