Hard Top - RHD - LHD compatibility
Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased an S2000 which has always been my dream car for a while, but since I live here in Belgium, raining 250 days a year, I would like to get a hardtop (used).
I checked in the European ebay markets and it seems that the British have the largest selection. I dont mind going up there to pick it up, but would somebody know if right hand drive hardtops and catches fit on left hand drive vehicles?
I tried searching but no luck. I would be very appreciative if someone would kindly advise...
Thank you.
Max

I don't see why it would matter because your car is RHD. The parts are made with a right and a left side so there is really no reason it shouldn't work unless your car is manufactured differently (Other than the RHD).
Actually we drive on the right side from the left seat, here in the USA. But this here forum has forieners on it sometimes.
Though if the OP got both the part number for a US market HT and the part number for a British HT and they were the same number, then it would be a safe bet that they're the same part.

The only thing that might be an issue would be the defroster wire/ relay ( the plug and pilar plastics with the hole in it may be on the opposite side on an RHD S2000) as far as fitment is concerned it will fit on either car (mugen does not make an RHD and LHD version of their top and they fit on LHD cars
)
)
My guess is that the swtch on the rear catcher would need to be swapped over to the right catcher. The same with the wiring for the defroster. There is a ground on one side and positive on the other.
Honda is smart, so I bet they only made one hardtop and designed it to fit of both RHD and LHD cars. Changing the above should be a snap.
The defroster is the ONLY issue I can see. Mechanically it should bolt right up.

Then perhaps you should ask in the appropriate forum. We don't drive on the right side of our cars here.
Some here in this section may very well drive on the ride side of their S2000s (left side of the road).
Hello,
Thank you all for the input.
In effect, in mainland europe, we drive left hard drive vehicles on the right side of the road, as you do in the US. The Brits drive do the opposite as they do in Japan.
Because of this, any regional forum would not address this issue directly as right hand drive countries have right hand drive parts and left hand drive countries have left hand drive parts.
The confirmation I was hoping from you was basically experiences of putting JDM parts (made for RHD) on US LHD models...
