Default Hard top stand

I went to the dealer a few months ago to see how much the s2k hardtop stand cost. They said $750. Its a dolly with padding why does it cost 750? Any solutions? Any homemade stands? pic please.

I found this stand on the board a while back, but cannot remember whio designed it, but fair play as it works a treat and is a hell off a lot cheaper.

Took me about an hour to make, but i was being cautious and making sure it would all fit together as UK fittings are slightly different to US.

Hope this helps:

That's a nice looking stand. We have the Honda Storage stand and cover for $500+shipping. It is a bit over priced but is is also over designed IMO. It is though a very nice design and quality built, I am not sure they needed to build it as expensively as they did. A much simpler design would of worked just as well and been a little more economical.

simmo, nice looking stand with an excellent photo detailing construction.

questions:

how does the top sit on the stand? (orientation) and how do you secure the top to the stand?

Thanx.

Someone else posted a plywood design that they built. You might try a search on it. I think the thread was called something along the lines of "40 minute hard top stand".

I built mine out of wood, but not plywood!
It took me one casual Saturday to do all the cutting, drilling and screwing.
Now that it is done, I'm going to make one change and add another brace across the back so the the roof's locking posts rest on the wood, then there will be absolutely no pressure on the plastic trim, although right now the pressure is amazingly slight.

Hi Guys,

Its not my design or picture so i will not claim the credit for someone elses work who ever it was

I just put the top window side down as it does not rest on any seals that way and if it does get knocked low dow it hit glass instead of the ally.
The top is very stable and secure as it lean back into the stand, so i do not use anything to secure it.
