Hard Top Storage
I found the "Bike Hoist" at www.brookstone.com. It is sku# 221440. It supports 50 lbs. and our hard top is closer to 40 lbs. With a little mountaineering rope and a couple of knots it now supports my hard top direcly above the car. Built in pulley system. Great storage location. Check it out.
Sounds positive, are you intending to have a custom setup in your own garage? If you get it successfully done, I might fly you a trip to Sydney to get it done for me as well ... Just kidding though.
I'll try to take some pictures this weekend. Not sure how to post them here. If I can't, I'll ask for your e-mail and send them to you. It attaches to my garage ceiling with some simple wood screws into the joists.
Thanks, much appreciated. I was actually looking at the setup of your ropes and knots. Since the basic setup of the bike rack will hold the 2 sides of the hardtop frame easily with no worries.
Here's the pic of the Brookstone bicycle hoist:

From what I can see, it's going to be very unstable with only two hooks - all other hardtop hoists on sale have either three or four. I understand the biggest problem is finding a hoist which will grab the edges without crushing the seal - that's why the hoists available for the BMW, Merc, Miata, and Porsche will not work for the S2000; their design is somewhat different than ours.
S2KPHX: If you can take and post pics, can you show a close-up of how the hangers hook on to the edges of the HT?
