Default Harder to get new parts in the future for s2k?

I'm wondering if availability on parts will decrease now that honda has discontinued the s2k. I know there are aftermarket parts but even aftermarket suppliers will eventually stop supporting the car. TBH my main concern is getting a new top, whether its soft or hard. Prices on those are probably going to go up, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how long that will take.

Honda has not discontinued the S2000.

Hardtop lead time is about 7 days based on my order and a friend's order ordered back to back.

I can still get tops for my 1934 Singer Le Mans, my 1967 FIAT Dino Spider and my 1973 FIAT 124 Spider, what makes you think that tops for a common car like the S2000 will not be available in the distant future. By the way, FIAT only built 1,133 FIAT Dino Spider's so that is WAY MORE RARE than any S will ever be.

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I pretty sure Honda by law has to supply parts for 10 years after the last model year, so Honda has to provide parts until 2019 at least (if I am right and I am pretty sure I am)

I also am not sure prices will go up, as the value of the car goes down and it is no longer a premium car, the tops will go down also in price, more likely remain where they are as materials will go up.

And lastly it has not been discontinued yet (assume it will be in 2009),

I don't think the oem Hardtop falls under the standard parts category. It is sold as an accessory. Soft top, probably a different story.

I wouldn't worry about it. There will be parts for quite a while. Just earlier this year, we got a transmission speed sensor for our 1991 Mazda 929S. Talk about obscure. The softtop is really not an issue. The hard top maybe though, so you might want to get one as once they're gone, they're gone.

The only issues to really worry about would be electronic modules for the car, as they'll undoubtedly get more expensive as time goes on from when Honda ceases support.

This reminds of the time I went to the VW dealer a few years ago and asked for an oil filter/screen for my 64 beetle. They laughed in my face.

I think this is a false statement. The CR comes with a Hardtop and it now falls under standard equipment. Optional parts can be put out of production at anytime (seldomly during a production year, but it has happened) and American Honda gets very short notice (if any at all).
