from the stories and pics i saw the windshield frame and roll hoops do a great job, but why do you think that you will flip your car?

Are you looking to participate in an HPDE or a full race?

Most HPDEs I've seen will let you run with the hardtop.

I'd personally like to see someone weld a fiberglass hardtop to the car. In fact, I'd pay to see it.

Moral of this thread: Don't roll your S2000.

How about Club Racer cars, I heard they were built for track use. Do CR's need roll cage for lappings?

I fit in the car just fine but wish the roll hoops were higher...

Depends on the tracks. Both Summit Point & VIR requires S2000 to have aftermarket roll bar protection before they will let the S on track. Another reason that I haven't been on track.

In the same light, some organizers/tracks allows the S to be on track with only a hardtop even though hardtop does not provide additional roll protection. Also, a Harddog bar is about 1/3 of the price of an OEM hardtop.

Just get the roll bar and call it a day. You should not have any problem attening HPDEs at any tracks around the country.
