Default Hardtop Install Question

Those of you who have a sebring silver, is there anything needed to install the hard top? I plan on buying a sebring silver hardtop used from someone else who has a 2002 as well. He told me that i needed some bolts or something? I dunno, i was a little confused. Any advice?

When you buy the hardtop, make sure you swap the black plastic kit as well. Look at the installation instructions online as well. There is a part he has installed on his car that accepts the pins on the hardtop. You might be able to do a swap with the parts off your car. And don't forget the wiring for the defroster, too.

I thought sebring silver and suzuka blue were the only colors that don't require this kit? I always thought that this would be a direct swap and that my car was already ready for the hardtop from factory since it is a 2002 model year and it is sebring silver?

Hmm. On Hardtopguy's website it implies that as well. Check your car for the receiving holes for the hardtop pegs. If those are there, then you're golden!

No you MUST have the sidecatchers.....the sidecatchers are what holds the rear of the HT on....these come with the HT. THe Suzuka and Sebring don't need the additional mounting kit but they do need the pieces that came with the HT.

I believe you're right to an extent: the models in question do not require the "extra" install kit (ie, kit a, b, or c) that is required for many other MY's/colors. That kit includes additional interior trim pieces, soft top brushes, and electrical wiring for the defroster.

ALL MY's/colors, however, will require the installation of the body side catchers and other parts that are supposed to be included with the purchase of any new hardtop.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is the correct information.

EDIT: Duh. What ^^^he^^^ said.

Those instructions are a bit intimidating, haha. I always thought that this installation was just a put on, latch down type of thing. So when i pick up the hardtoip, i should ask for:

1)Defroster Harness
2)Rear Sidecatchers

Edit: BTW, thanks for the help guys. Appreciate it .

Download the h/t install instructions from Jeff's site or H and A. It includes a list of parts that come with the h/t. Get all those parts from the original owner.

The guy i bought the hardtop from didn't buy the hardtop optionally. He bought his car used and it came with the hardtop, and so he isn't sure as to what is included in the hardtop and what is not. I asked him if he could take off his side catchers and i would just trade parts with him off my car, but he did not want to do that. Does anyone know how much the side catchers cost by themselves?
