Default Hardtop Installation kits "A", "B", "C"

I am having the hardest time figureing out which installation Kit I need to install a hardtop on my Year00 s2000. I have a low vin 2000 and according to hardtop guy that is $700??? From other sites the installation kit a is only $150 part # 06690-S2A-KIT-A thehondapartsstore.com . Am I missing something? Is there another name for the installation kit that includes the catchers, strikers (basically all of the goodies to attach the top to the car propery). I dont care about the defroster hookup, unless i need it so my car wont throw ecu errors. In desperate need of some advice. Which kit do I need a,b, or c or none of the above to ensure I have all of the mounting hardware.

thanks!!

The catchers are included with the hardtop. The strickers you will need to buy seperatley. There is a updated set of brushes for the rear side, but you can get by without them. Everything else is for the defroster.

the VIN is 1607 a very early yr00

The hardtop will be new, but most dealers I have talked to dont know what installation hardware I need for my year. They get especially thrown when I tell them I do not need the defroster kit. One dealer gave me the part number listed in my above reply as the correct kit, but i have no clue what that kit consits of. I wouldnt of thought too much at bout it but hartop guys kit for my year and vin is $799!!!!! That is 600 dollar difference.

Thanks!
Justin

I have bought the kit that you need, based on your vin. HTG's kit is based on the fact that you want it installed right, with everything working. From what you are telling me, you just want a HT mounted to your car, safely.

Based on that, just by the stricker for the front. The rear catchers are included with the HT.

For the record, the current HTs include everything you need to install them in an 02-06 car.

Since you have an early VIN 00, you would need all of the extra parts, but only if you wanted the defroster to work. Becasue Honda released the HT after the 00 shipped, they found they needed to make some changes to get the HT to work properly (The defroster that is) This included 3 parts on the interior, the center console, and the two plastic panels behind the seats. This was all to get the botton and wiring installed. Later VINs had these updated parts in them from the factory.

Does that help?

Yes that was very helpful.

You had it spot on I only want all of the hardware to secure the hardtop to my car safley. Since I am not concerned with the defroster kit. I will order the newer installation kits.

Thanks!!

I just sent you a PM, but since I recently installed a Hardtop, I am familiar with the '02-'06 kit, which has everything included for a physical installation, including the striker plates, sidecatchers, bolts (longer than the non-hardtop application), trim and two harnesses. You should need nothing else. Don't buy anything until you actually see the kit, you'll probably be wasting money. The kits were designed to be installed in the service departments of Honda dealers. They can't waste time hunting down missing parts at $70 or $80 an hour.

In fact, if your car had the fix done for the rattling catches of the soft-top, you already have the front strikers installed, since that was the fix for that problem (replacing the strikers with the hardtop ones).

I described a fix for the missing ground wire of the early '00. Just add a short wire grounding the black wire in the two plug connector. You don't need any additional installation kit if you skip the defroster installation.
