Hardtop on my S2K
Hi guys, i bought my first S2K about a month ago and the hardtop on it seems to fit snug on drivers side but there is a slight gap between the top of window and where it sould sit on passanger side, so when i go over 60mph it tends to get a bit noisy, the soft top fits brilliant, snug both sides when its up so the problem is definately something to do with the hardtop.
Due to my car being a 2000 plate, the owner before must have had the hardtop bought from factory after the purchase, i was wondering if there is anyway of the hardtop fitting perfect on both side.
brilliant if you could help
Cheers Timmyo

There are instructions for fitting the top. The two plates behind the seats that have 3 bolts each can be adjusted up and down. You can also adjust the striker plates above the windshield. I'll have to look for my instructions to give you more info.

The early cars (00-01) came with striker plates that were softer and more prone to wear. The later cars came with harder striker plates (known as "hardtop strikers", because they also came in the hardtop install kits). The symptoms of the latches being loose and rattling, the gap, and the wind noise all point to badly worn striker plates. It's quite possible that whoever installed your hard top did not bother to install the new striker plates.
i will post up what i find if i can see anything.Cheers mate
This may be applicable for you, when i would put my hardtop on, there was always a gap on one side or the other, and it took me a month or two, because it didnt bother me tht much, to realize there are little male divets on the hard top latches, that fit into the corresponding female sockets on the hardtop strikers. You should check to see that both divets go into the sockets, because if they are not in, that would cause the gap. It usually just requires a little push or pull to get them to slide in correctly, then it will be a snug fit. Let me know if this helped at all.

Have another person help you. Basically you want them to hold the hardtop in place while you tighten all the bolts from the inside. You don't want it to shift, and make sure the windows are up and the doors open and close fine with the windows up.
